Outdoor storage, measured before it is sold

ZZM Official Online Store

Start with the strip of ground you can actually spare. Every shed, cabinet and deck box here carries its footprint next to its capacity, so you can rule out two thirds of the range with a tape measure before you look at a single photograph.

  • 6 capacities, 10 to 57 cu ft
  • 12 shed sizes
  • $12.99 to $1598.52

A ZZM walk-in storage shed standing on a level pad beside a house

01 · Pick by size

Four classes, drawn to the same scale

The strip of ground you can spare decides this before anything else does. Each class links to the sizes in it, and the guide sets them side by side with what fits inside.

02 · Most ordered

Eight ZZM sizes people settle on

Ordered by the depth of the ratings pool our retail partner shows, not by what we would like to sell. Capacity, footprint and material stand on every card.

In the yard

A 6 by 6 foot shed, from the pad up

Twenty seconds of the range as it stands outside: wall texture, the latch, the floor panel and what fits through a pair of front doors.

03 · Before you buy

Six measurements that decide which size you need

Capacity is the number people argue about. The footprint is the number that stops a delivery going back. Take these six and the range narrows itself.

The strip of ground

Measure the width between the house and the fence, then take four inches off for the doors to swing and for you to stand.

The height under the gutter

A sloped roof needs headroom at the back wall. Measure to the lowest thing above the spot, not to the eaves.

What goes in first

Stand the mower, the wheelbarrow or the trash cans where you can see them and measure the tallest one. That height sets the class of shed, not the volume.

The door opening, not the box

A pair of front doors swallows a mower that a lift-up lid will not. If the widest thing you own is 28 inches, the opening has to beat it.

Where the water runs

Pick the spot after rain. A floor panel keeps damp out of the box; it does not stop the box sitting in a puddle.

The shelf you will want later

Shelf sets are cut for named capacities. Buying the shed that has a shelf set costs nothing extra and saves a return.

04 · By the job

What people put in them

The same box solves different problems depending on the yard. These are the jobs our own product notes name, with the sizes that take them.

05 · Fitted parts

Bought the box bare? The shelf set is cut by number

A shelf set is listed against the capacities it is made for, and every one of those sizes links back to it. Match the number on your own shed rather than measuring the gap.

07 · By material and shape

Five ways into the range

ZZM resin storage sheds

Resin sheds are the middle of this range and the part most people end up in: a moulded wall with the grain in it, a floor pan underneath and a latch that takes a padlock. They run from a 26 cubic foot box that swallows two trash cans to a 52 cubic foot cabinet you can stand a long-handled tool in without taking the head off.

ZZM double-wall HDPE storage sheds

Double-wall HDPE is the stiff end of the range: two skins with a gap between them, a floor included on every size and vents at the eaves on the tall ones. It is what holds its shape at six feet of width, and it is why the walk-ins are quoted in feet rather than cubic feet.

ZZM walk-in storage sheds

Walk-in means six feet deep and four, six or eleven feet along the wall, with a sloped roof on the two larger ones. These are the sizes where the ground decides: a level pad, doors that clear the fence, and anchors, because an empty six by eleven is a sail in a gust.

ZZM horizontal storage sheds

Under fifty inches tall is the height that clears a window sill and a deck rail. These are the boxes for things that lie down, cushions and hoses and a folded chair, and the ones you place without thinking about headroom.

ZZM trash can storage sheds

Two wheeled bins are about forty-two inches tall and need a fifty inch strip. That one measurement rules out most boxes, which is why the sizes that take them are wide and low, with doors at the front rather than a lid you have to lift a full can over.

ZZM lawn mower storage sheds

A push mower is about twenty-two inches across the deck, so the door opening decides and not the volume. The sizes here open at the front, which is the difference between rolling a mower in and lifting it over a sill.

08 · Counted from the catalogue

What the range adds up to

Ratings are the pools our retail partner shows, added up per product family rather than per size.

  • 42 sizes published
  • 29 ratings pools
  • 3,776 ratings in them
  • 4.41 weighted average
  • 10 years selling outdoor storage

Every figure here is counted from the ZZM catalogue when the site is built, never typed. How the counting works is on how we update the catalogue.

Measuring, anchoring and what not to lock in

Four pieces on the parts of this that a spec table cannot answer: what a permit depends on, what fuel does in a closed box, and how much a shed moves in wind if it is not fixed down.

What not to lock in a garden shed

Petrol, propane, oily rags and lawn chemicals in a closed resin box, and what the fire and environmental authorities actually say about each.

10 · Why ZZM

Three things you can check before you order

None of this is a promise about the weather. It is what the ZZM team can put a number on, and the numbers are on the pages.

Every size, with its footprint

Capacity and outside measurements stand together on every page, plus the door opening where the brand states it. You can rule a size out without leaving the page.

Shelf sets matched by number

A shelf set is listed against the capacities it is cut for, and the shed pages link back to it. No guessing whether a board fits.

Prices from one update, dated

Figures come from a single catalogue update and the date is printed on one page, not stamped under every price. If checkout disagrees, checkout wins.

Questions

What people ask about ZZM storage

The six that come up before an order. The ZZM range is listed with the measurements that answer most of them.

Which ZZM shed size do you actually need?
Measure the strip of ground first, then the height of the tallest thing going in. Under 30 inches of width and you are in the 10 cubic foot doorstep box; a 50 inch strip takes the 26 to 57 cubic foot cabinets; six feet of depth and a level pad puts you in the walk-ins. The storage size guide sets the three classes side by side with what fits in each.
Will a ZZM shed keep your things dry, or only out of the rain?
The panels and the roof shed water, the doors overlap, and every size except the smallest ships with a floor pan so damp does not come up from the ground. What no resin box does is survive standing in a puddle: pick the spot after rain, and put a walk-in on a level pad rather than turf.
Do you need to anchor a ZZM shed down?
Yes on anything walk-in sized, and it is worth it on the tall cabinets too. An empty box with a six foot wall is a sail, and the anchor points are moulded into the floor for that reason. Federal wind guidance for light accessory structures is the reason this is a rule rather than a suggestion.
Can you put a shelf in a ZZM shed you already own?
If it is one of the named capacities, yes. The shelf sets are cut for 37 and 57 cubic feet, for 48 cubic feet, and for the 60 gallon cabinet, and each set lists the boxes it fits. Check the number on your own shed rather than the width of the gap.
Where can you buy ZZM storage?
Through the button on any product page, which takes you to our retail partner to check out. Payment, delivery and returns are handled there; we keep the catalogue, the measurements and the photographs.
How often do you update these prices?
On a schedule, in one pass over the whole catalogue, and the date of the last one is printed on how we update the catalogue. If a figure here and the figure at checkout disagree, the checkout figure is the one that counts.
